Magazine Cover Redraft

I've thought a lot more about the layout and what's included in my magazine and I've redrafted it ready to make my final piece.

I've changed the image after my thought about too much to look and aiming for simplicity, I've decided to use only one band member. I've chosen a tall blonde, handsome male due to his hair contrasting with the black background, and the generic portrayal of attractive men to be tall, handsome, blonde haired and blue eyed. I will also make him look masculine to attract males as well, encouraging them to want to be like him, meaning they'll want to look at the magazine further. I've also decided to make the model look directly into the camera lens, to create the effect that he's looking at the reader. This will create a personal bond between the reader and the magazine. He'll be wearing white to contrast with the dark background and jewelery to make him appear more fashionable.

I've chosen to introduce a new selling line. 'Music that'll make you lose your mind.' I feel it fits in with my name along the theme of taking you away from reality, it relates to the purpose of the magazine and the recurring use of the letter 'm' in spread out alliteration makes it easier to remember. It also directs itself straight to the audience, meaning a personal connection is formed. I've moved the competition down from above the masthead to below, making it into a cover line. This means I can make it bolder and more eye catching as it'll be a good selling point. I've decided to put splodges into place behind some of the words/images that I want to be noticed such as the giant plus sign and the large number '50'. I feel the theme of blood splatters is relevant to the rebellious side of this music genre and the idea of Novocain and stopping pain. This means that the eye will be drawn to these, meaning the audience will be inclined to read the cover lines and buy the magazine. I've put my price below the masthead so it can be seen and the word 'only' in front, insinuating it's cheap and a bargain, because people love to save money! I've left the colours as red and yellow as I feel that purple was too dark, whereas the yellow and red are both very bright and eye catching compared to the black and white.

After feedback that the 'freebee' was somewhat, irrelevant, to my target age group, I have decided to think more about what type of free stuff my audience would prefer. After a lot of thought, I came up with a free download off of iTunes, which is hugely popular among teens and young adults these days. It's also relevant the theme of music, and I believe it will help promote the magazine because the audience will see they're getting something free.

Overall, I much prefer my second draft and feel it has a lot more going for it. I'm extremely excited to make it!
